At the end of the day of touring we were treated to the spring dance. Students started with formal dancing - mainly the waltz - and then moved on to something more modern.
There is a state of the art IT program in the school. Students of all ages work with a very impressive collection of industrial quality equipment. The shop is completely equipped for wood, metal and electronic work.

It was great to reconnect with our friends in Salo. I met with the new principal Tommi, Rod presented Esko with a new addition for his license plate collection and then we settled down for a short, early lunch.
We met with the superintendent of Salo Schools, Tommi Tuominen, in an office in a converted railroad round house. We found Tommi to be an enthusiastic supporter of the International Youth Summit.
We met with 3 English classes and gave a brief introduction to our school district and answered many questions. Near the end of the day we met with a group of 50 students who have expressed interest in attending the International Youth Summit at SAVHS.
The first notable difference was the number of bicycles at the school. We were told that more than 75% of students (about 500 students) ride their bikes daily.
